Lit Review #1
For my project, I have chosen to research “How to become a makeup artist.” In preparation I have written down a few questions to help me find out information about being a makeup artist. Out of the three questions created, only one gave me good information that could help me out a lot with my project. The question was “What  are the proper tools to use ?” I chose this question because to me it is the most important. I think this because it is impossible to put on makeup without makeup tools, and without the proper tools and use of those tools the finished look the person is trying to get could turn out wrong. The question took me to the website www.makeupgeek.com run by a girl named, Marlena, owner of the website. Marlena is a young adult who has been running the website for a while. I have been using her site for makeup ideas and information for about a year and have found that it is very useful and enjoyable. The article I read was very helpful. It fully answered my question, provided pictures, provided information on the tools and even had a price range for each tool.
The website ranges from tutorials about applying makeup, selling makeup such as mac and nyx products, facts about applying makeup, good makeup to use, and questions answered by Marlena, who has built her whole makeup career off the website. The article about using proper tools is broken into different groups for each part of the face. There is about six brushes used for the eyes, three face brushes, one lip brush and one face blender. The eye brushes include the Flat Stiff brush, the Stiff Dome brush, the Pencil brush, Soft Dome brush, and the Dual Ended brush (Makeupgeek). Each of these brushes have a specific purpose and are often misused. The Flat brush is used for packing eye shadow on to the eye lid and making eye shadow stick better (Makeupgeek). It can also be used to smudge color on the lower lash line (Makeupgeek). The Stiff Dome brush is used for blending harsh eye shadow lines and feathering colors (Makeupgeek). The Pencil brush is used for smudging either on top or under the eye. It can also be used to make the look more dramatic (Makeupgeek). The Soft Dome brush is also used for blending colors and harsh lines and can be used for blending concealer under the eye to hide bags and dark circles (Makeupgeek). The Bent Liner brush is used for applying gel liner (Makeupgeek). The Dual Ended brush is used for brushing eye brows and filling them in (Makeupgeek). The face brushes include the Contour,  the Cheek Highlighter brush, and the Foundation Stippling brush (Makeupgeek).  The Contour brush or known as the Blush brush is used for applying blush to the cheek bone (Makeupgeek). The Cheek Highlighter brush is for applying a highlighter at the top of your cheek bones and can also be used with cream blushes for an airbrush finished look (Makeupgeek). The Foundation Stippling brush is for applying foundation on the whole face (Makeupgeek). There is also another type of brush called the Flat Foundation brush, used for also applying foundation or applying a highlighter on top of the cheek bones (Makeupgeek). The Lip brush is used for applying lipstick or lip-gloss instead of using it right out the tube (Makeupgeek). The Beauty Blender is another face brush used for applying foundation (Makeupgeek). It is ideally used for getting under the eye and in small places (Makeupgeek).

The research I did answered my question fully, by showing pictures of the brushes I needed, explaining what to use them for and giving a price for the brush. The article went into full detail of how the brushes are supposed to be used and what
